What is the echo dot and what does it do?

Amazon Echo Dot became available in the United States on June 23, 2015. Initially, it was only available to Amazon Prime members or by invitation. There were speculations that in the mid-to-late 2016, the Echo Dot will make its debut in Canada.

This was after Amazon posted some job offers, employing developers for Alexa. On 28 September 2016, customers in the United Kingdom will get their hands on Echo. The Alexa voice service is also available for other devices and other companies devices.

The Amazon Echo Dot is a voice-controlled device, a hands-free with a built-in speaker. The Amazon Echo Dot can be connected to a headphone via Bluetooth or preferably to speakers via a 3.5 mm audio cable which delivers quality sounds of your choice. The Dot connects to Alexa voice service to perform a certain function like; to play music, to provide information, read the news, sports updates and scores, weather and many other functions.

Another cool thing about Echo is, it can hear you from across the room even if the music is on or there is noise.
